Teen Attitude

Jordan to Scott when he was trying to teach her the proper way to play memory: *sigh* "Whatever Daddy."

Couponing works!

With a new, bigger, more expensive house on the horizon we had to trim our budget. One thing that got a significant cut was the grocery budget. I hope that couponing will cut it even more. I am just starting to get the hang of it so I wanted to share my spoils :)

At Rite Aid I got a package of 31 HUGGIES diapers for $4. We use cloth but I couldn't pass that up. There is still a need here and there for disposables.

At CVS I got 4 boxes of name brand cereal for under $6. I think it was about $5.80. I am proud of myself :) :)

Oh, and last week I got 84, yes EIGHTY-FOUR jars of baby food for under $30. Once again, I can't remember the exact amount; I do know it came out to about $0.20/jar, give or take a few cents. Guess how long 84 jars lasts us? About 3-4 weeks. May cannot come soon enough. Come May we can stop spending $200/month on formula AND we should be spending a ton less on baby food.

Submission

Submission. Submission is the hardest thing in the world for me to do as a wife. I would venture to say that it is the hardest thing for most wives to do. Right now lovely dear husband is fighting for a house that I feel certain we can't afford. I do know that we need more space. We are all on top of eachother. The babies have two, yes two, rooms they can play in. The kitchen is off limits for obvious reasons. I don't like them going down the hallway because two of the doors to bedrooms don't close and who knows what kind of stuff is in those rooms to be ruined and/or eaten. So we are currently waiting to hear if a seller has accepted our offer. I have to admit, as much as I love the house I fought Scott on this. I felt like we couldn't afford it, I don't want to rent our current house out, there won't be money to decorate the new house, yada yada yada. Any excuse was good enough for me. Even when talking with Scott about moving into the house, I said before moving in I wanted to paint the bedrooms and get a vanity for the hall bath. Scott was fine with painting because that is hard to do once you are moved in. But the vanity, he said, had to wait. But why? then he said something that was so true. He said "Why are you willing to go along with me on something as huge as the house but you will fight me on a $200 vanity." That kind of got me. It was true. I was submitting to his leadership and trusting that he heard from God regarding this house. But I want to make it as hard on him as possible. And the weird thing is that I love the house. It is perfect for our family for now and I really believe we can get a good 10 years out of it at least. It is 2100 square feet; I never thought I'd have a house that big. It has a fully updated kitchen with TWO pantries (perfect for couponing/stocking up), three fairly large bedrooms, two bathrooms (which is huge for me because we only have one now), a nice flat and decently long driveway so the kids can ride bikes, a two car carport, and last but not least, it is a family friendly neighborhood where I can see myself meeting moms and having a ministry. My friend Kelley and her family (who have also adopted transracially) are right around the corner. They are literally about 50 yards away. Then there are other things in the house that I love but never thought about having. I love that it has a family room to use as a playroom. I love that it has an attic fan. I feel like by even typing this I am setting myself up for heartbreak and we won't get house. Ironic. I am going to submit only on my terms but then be disappointed if it doesn't work. Something about that isn't right.

Because I haven't blogged in FOREVER!

Just a bunch of pictures from January and the first week of February. I just got around to looking at these. The older the babies get the less time I have to do stuff like blog. I thought it was supposed to get easier? Whoever said that doesn't have "twins", twins, or other such multiples.

Jordan was very excited about her clay creation and wanted a picture with it. What is it, you ask? Why it is a castle silly! Can't you tell?

Micah's new trick is standing unassisted. She figured this one out last weekend, so right before she hit the 9 month mark. She has already decided she is ready to walk behind anything she can push. Girl's got serious coordination, if I do say so myself :)

50% of the time, this is Jordan with the babies: annoyed. Here Micah is pulling her hair and JW is trying to take her toy. I see breaking up fights in my future, especially considering the babies are now taking toys away from eachother, then voicing serious displeasure and yanking said toy back.

I have fallen prey to the addiction that is matching my girl's clothes. I just bought them each sunshine yellow sundresses for the summer. Just an FYI, but sunshine yellow looks awesome on my babies dark scrumptious skin. Ignore Scott in this picture. He ruins every picture I take by looking less than thrilled.

"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls..." That is how Jordan started whatever story she was telling this day. She rigged her jump rope to look like a microphone then proceeded to tell stories only she knew.

JW's smile and eyes melt my heart.

I just thought this was funny. For whatever reason the hat Micah wore home from the hospital resting on J's puff made me chuckle.

In her usual attire of a dress up gown of some sort, Jordan plays Sorry. She has really gotten in to playing games of all kinds. Right now her favorite is Memory, which we play with Candyland cards because, well, she lost the Candyland board. Might as well put those cards to good use!

While visiting the Kennedy clan we took J to Disney. Let me tell you this one thing: to this day Jordan talks about meeting Mickey at Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She really thinks she met the Mickey Mouse. And, just to show that 3 year olds have no sense of time, she also asks every single day if she can go back to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse "tomorrow after my nap." Haha!

While in Florida, Jordan got a princess ride on car for Christmas. She felt certain that the babies' pig needed to ride that car...with a balloon. What is a ride on a princess car without a balloon?

In true girly-girl fashion, Jordan loves makeup. You can see how painstakingly accurate her application of makeup is ;)

The babies have discovered that the air intake vent makes music when beat on.

A picture of Big Boy, just because I think he is cute. No he isn't crying. He has a tear duct issue which makes his eyes water a lot. It has actually gotten a ton better since he was an infant.

Another day of dress up for Jordan. Yes, we do feed her. Yes, she is skinny. And yes, it is totally genetic.

Wrestling with daddy. Poor Scott. It was a dog pile of babies.

JW thinks his big sis is the best thing ever! His face just lights up when she comes around. So how sweet is it that she asked to take a picture with JW? It would have been nice if they weren't 1 foot from my face, but I'll take whatever picture I can take.

Happiest baby in the world! Micah smiles all the time. She even smiles when we tell her no. Of course that smile is followed by continuing to do what she isn't supposed to do. But hey, I'll give her grace since she is only 9 months!

I know most of these pics are of Jordan, but she deserves it. She has gotten the picture shaft lately. So this post and the next post (snow pics) are mainly of her.

One quick prayer request. I know that a lot of people from First Pres keep up with us through my blog. God has provided for us in more ways that I can even begin to count. Right now we are praying he provides us with a bigger home. Our current home is 1200 square feet, but the layout is just aweful for life with kids. We are on top of eachother, and it is taking a toll on our relationships. Jordan has nowhere to go to get away from the babies, and they have nowhere to go to get away from her. There is nowhere for toys so they take over the living and dining room. That would be okay if those weren't the two main rooms in the house. We (Scott and I) trip on them and slip and sometimes almost fall. As many women can understand, if your house is messy and out of control, it can make us feel a little out of control. That is how I feel every single day. I know that having kids means things are going to be a mess. It would just be nice to have a room that could contain all the toys. Then I won't feel so stressed out by all the stuff everywhere. Anyway, our prayer request is for a bigger house on a shoestring budget. We want to stay in North Augusta for now. Eventually we do want to join the downtown ministry, but houses down there are a bit pricey for where we are right now. Please be praying for this. We plan on renting our current house. Our neighborhood is a good rental area so it won't be a problem finding a renter. I think we may even look into MCO and see if any people there need a place. Well, please be praying. Thanks!

Disappointment

What do you do when you are so disappointed with the road God has chosen that you just cry? That is the kind of day I have had. I am not going into any details, but it has just been long. I keep going back to infertility, when I was disappointed time after time, which left me questioning God. Now I have these three wonderful kids and I no longer question infertility. Ever. So I guess what one does is just goes on, trusting that God is who he says he is. So Audrey, this is for you too :)

"Who is God that he should lie, or the son of man that he should change his mind?" (That sentence right there is testimony to scripture memory. I have no idea the last time I used that verse, but the Holy Spirit has just brought it to mind. For that I am thankful. I needed to be reminded of that side of God's character.)

At some point I will have time to post the 20 or so pictures from the last month. But that time is not now. It is 11:00 and I am beat! Goodnight!
