Seeing God In the Little Things

Not only does God show himself to me in big ways (such as the adoption of our kiddos), but he reveals himself in tiny things as well. The other day Scott and I went out for chinese food. I don't like chinese personally, but Scott loves it so I gave in. We eat; we enjoy...well, Scott enjoys. Then the chinese man comes and gives us two fortune cookies and proceeds to tell us that someone took care of our tab. At this point I am shocked. We didn't know anyone in the restaurant; maybe someone knew of us, or maybe not. It doesn't matter. What does matter is that a stranger paid for our meals. Wow! Thank you Lord! I have been reminded today through reading the Jesus Storybook Bible to Jordan that God created us and loves us very much. It was a very simple reminder that is backed up by the very fact that he provided free chinese food this week.

I see God in the hands that carefully sculpt these cute little cowgirl booties. They are cute on film...er, digital film...but trust me, they are way cuter in real life.

I see God's loving touch in every single roll on Big Boy's body. And trust me, there is a lot of loving touch to behold :)

I behold my great God in the tiny drool drop on Micah's chin...

and in her sausage link looking toes, which must taste like chocolate because they are ALWAYS in her mouth.

I watch God in the way Jordan loves her baby sister.

I also see his sense of humor in the unending torture of JW at the hands of his "little" sister, who not only loves to eat her toes, but loves to eat anything of JW's.

Yes, God is all around. I need not look very far.

You Need This Bible

I honestly think this is the best children's Bible you could possibly own. We started with The Big Picture Story Bible and while it is wonderful, it focuses a lot on God's punishment of sin. While God's punishment of sin is real, his love for sinful creatures is even more real. The Jesus Storybook Bible ends every chapter with a reminder that God cam to redeem the lost. It is such an awesome reminder to me, even as I read it to Jordan, that he is good even though I am not. My old seminary neighbor...literal neighbors...they lived next door to us and infested our place with termites:) Okay, so maybe that wasn't her fault and maybe we weren't totally infested. She did, however, throw a mean pumpkin carving party for us wild and crazy seminary students...Anyway, she is giving away 2 of these Bibles in honor of her soon to be 2 year old. Go to her blog and post a comment and you will be entered to win! If you don't win, buy it. You won't regret it. Go to my favorite blogs list and click on The Blue Hutch. The post about the giveaway is there somewhere. Just look for it.

Not Me Monday

Having never done a "Not Me Monday" post, I am really not sure what to write. To be quite honest, since that is what Not Me Mondays are all about, I don't remember yesterday, let alone a week ago haha! Curse of the 5 month old "twins" I suppose :) Let's get started!

I most certainly would never ever do a Not Me Monday post simply because I want that canvas that MckMama is giving away. Nope. Not me! I would never do that!

Seeing the beauty in all things that God has made, I would never be envious of everyone else in my family. Being that I am the only very pale skinned chic with blonde hair and blue eyes of our bunch, I don't ever feel like the one who sticks out like a sore thumb. I mean, seriously, that would be silly of me.

I always brush my teeth first thing in the morning. I let babies cry or Jordan fend for herself until my pearly whites are disinfected. I never let it go until naptime. Ever. Dental hygeine is of the utmost importance to me.

Micah has certainly not been crying the entire time I have been typing this post. I never let my babies needlessly cry (unless of course, I am brushing my teeth). I run to their defense right away every single time. That is, of course, why I am still dressed in my pajamas. It is not because I am just lazy.

Garage Sale Anyone?

I have decided that next year my mom and I, and maybe a few others, will be in garage sale heaven as we shop the biggest garage sale on earth. I am talking about the 654 mile long garage sale that goes from the gulf somewhere on up north somewhere. And because JW is screaming his head off right now that is all I can type! That is the life of a mom with two babies. I am always being drooled on, spit up on, or holding someone.

Anyone want to join me next year? I can't wait. I guess I better go get the beast himself...and tell my mom that I have a week out of her life planned for her next year.

Melt My Heart

Guess who is sitting up? I am not sure if it is sitting up so much as it is the fact that he has tons of butt to balance on! At any rate, Jordan decided to read him a book last night. It was so sweet.

JW fell asleep in the jumperoo this morning.

He looked so cute and peaceful that I had to get in closer for a nice face shot. Notice the drool on the jumperoo? He is the droolingest kid on earth. Yes, I know that "droolingest" isn't a word. No, I don't care that it isn't a word. Yes, I will continue to use it.

The flash woke him up. He opened his eyes long enough to see me and flash this smile. Then his eyes rolled back in his head and he was out...again.

Micah loves being in the jumperoo. She jumps and jumps and jumps, that is, when Jordan isn't pushing it as a swing. She likes it so much that she managed to crack half of a smile for the camera.

THE Jordan face :) She makes this face whenever she is concentrating on something, whether it be playing trains or coloring.

I have had several people ask me how I am making it. Well, the answer is that I am not. And no, this mound of laundry does not melt my heart :)

This is why I can never get a decent picture of Jordan anymore. As soon as she sees I am trying to take her picture she runs toward me. It is a game she thinks is the most exciting thing on the planet; I think it is the most annoying game on the planet.

On the plus side, this is why I love having a girl! Dress up is so much fun to see. Even Daddy gets in on the fun sometimes.

sacked out. Again, this kid can sleep anywhere. Jordan rarely fell asleep on the couch; Micah never does.

Micah thinks her feet are the best toy ever, which is good because they can't ever be lost haha! Due to his size, Big Boy cannot get to his feet.

Jordan loves to push Micah in her jumperoo like she is in a swing. And surprisingly, Micah loves it. She giggles the whole time.

His royal bigness is taking a little break from his routine of eating and sleeping.

Midnight Snack

Yes, it is midnight and I am up blogging. Why? Because Big Boy himself woke up at 11:30 for a little snack. Seeing as he has eaten nearly 50 oz of formula today, and since his pediatrician said I need to limit him to 35 oz/day, I thought it was appropriate to give him something else. So he ate a little green beans and prunes. Green beans and prunes make for very nasty diapers; just a little information for you curious minds out there.

Look how big he is in that bouncy seat! Those are 9-12 month pajamas that my 20 pound almost 5 month old is filling out nicely.

Now that I am a memeber of the Faithful Bloggers I would love to add something spiritual to this post. That is what spiritual people do, right? But to be perfectly honest, I have zero free time during the day except naptime. If I am lucky enough to get them all down for a nap at the same time I fall asleep in less than 5 minutes. I have fallen asleep several times while giving a baby a bottle. All that to say, I got nothin'. This too shall pass. That is what I keep telling myself. Eventually I will be able to read my Bible again without falling asleep 2 verses in. At some point I will be able to pray and get further into prayer than "Dear Heavenly Father." On days when I am very tired and my patience has worn thin, on those days when I ask Scott to pray for me as he is walking out the door to work, on those very days I can usually manage to send up a quick "Lord, give me your grace and a supernatural patience that can only come from you". And much to my surprise, God answers those prayers. After 15 years of knowing and walking with God I am still amazed that he doesn't work on a pay to play mentality. In other words, he doesn't care I haven't had a decent quite time in close to 5 months now. What he does care about is the fact that on those very long days I am relying on him alone to carry me through.

On a totally unrelated and random sidenote, I want to redo my header...again. I need a picture that better shows off the range of colors in our home. Any ideas?

Short and Sweet

This post will be both short and very sweet. For the short part I will simply say "Praise be to God alone!" We got a huge grant from Reaching Hands through Warren Baptist. This means our big JW is almost paid for! Can I get a huge JW-sized AMEN? When we went into this 2 babies from 2 agencies thing we had no other choice but to trust God for his provision. He really does have a heart for orphans, doesn't he?

Now for the sweet part. I have been meaning to put this in a post for a while. Both Micah and JW have a dimple on the same cheek. It is as if they were meant to be "twins". Only our Lord could have planned even this tiny and sweet detail of their stories.

I am sure that I don't have any new readers, but in case I do, please go to the May 22nd post to read how we got our 2 babies.
